Step by Step

This tour is designed to allow you to discover the best of Kent in a single day, without worrying about transport or planning. The day starts early, departing London from designated pick-up points. From then on, your guide will accompany you with live commentary on the history and scenery as you pass through.

First stop is Dover Castle, known as the 'Key to England' for its strategic position guarding the English Channel for over nine centuries. Walking around its imposing keep, medieval ramparts and wartime tunnels, you'll understand why it played a key role in the defence of the country from the Middle Ages to the Second World War.

Next, you'll approach the White Cliffs of Dover, a true British icon. From this dramatic stretch of coastline, formed by spectacular white chalk walls, you'll enjoy unforgettable views of the sea and, on clear days, even the French coast in the distance. It's one of those panoramic views that you have to see at least once in your life.

In the afternoon you'll reach Canterbury, a city inhabited since prehistoric times and converted into a Roman settlement in the 1st century. Here stands Canterbury Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, spiritual leader of the Church of England. It was here that the famous murder of Thomas Becket, now revered as a saint and martyr, took place, transforming the cathedral into one of the great pilgrimage centres of Europe.

You will have about 2 hours free time in Canterbury to visit the cathedral (if you have selected the option with entrance included) and wander around its medieval streets, city walls and the River Stour, before heading back to London, where you will arrive around 19:00.

Very good excursion. I recommend that you choose a time when you can see a bit of the sunset because the cliffs offer a beautiful view.

The bus was in good condition and they used the air-conditioning as mentioned in the reservation. We went to all the places mentioned and also passed by shops where you can buy souvenirs.
