St Andrews and Villages of Fife Day Trip from Edinburgh

Enjoy a full day exploring the north of Scotland on this excursion from Edinburgh to St Andrews and the fishing villages of Fife, an experience that combines heritage, coastal scenery and Scottish legends.

The adventure begins by crossing the imposing Forth Bridge, a symbol of engineering and one of the country’s most recognisable sights. From there, we head into the historic Kingdom of Fife, passing through Aberdour before continuing along the east coast, known as the East Neuk of Fife, famous for its fishing villages and natural beauty.

During the tour, you’ll visit some of the region’s most picturesque spots:

• Anstruther, with its charming harbour and the National Fisheries Museum of Scotland.
• Pittenweem, Crail and St Monans, former fishing villages that thrived thanks to European maritime trade.
• St Andrews, the highlight of the day: a medieval town steeped in history, home to Scotland’s oldest university, the world’s most famous golf course and the ruins of a majestic cathedral overlooking the sea.
• Falkland, a photo stop in this picturesque village which served as a filming location for the Outlander series.
• Loch Leven and South Queensferry, where nature and history come together, offering a final view of the Forth Bridge before returning to Edinburgh.

In St Andrews, you’ll have around three hours of free time to explore its cobbled streets, visit monuments, soak up the university atmosphere and have lunch in one of its cosy cafés or restaurants.
