Step by Step

The tour starts with a pick-up in Edinburgh and a drive to some of the most iconic locations used in Outlander. One of the first stops is usually Doune Castle, the setting for Castle Leoch, where you can wander through its courtyards, halls and walls while hearing details of how it was converted for the series.

Then you'll visit Blackness Castle, used as a base for Randall's darker settings, with stunning views and dramatic ambience that perfectly captures the atmosphere of the series. Further on, you'll cross roads to Culross, whose architecture, cobbled streets and gardens are reminiscent of the village of Cranesmuir. Here you'll be able to stop at recognisable locations from the series and admire the exteriors featured in the scenes.

During the tour, the guide will narrate in English both historical facts and curiosities of the production: what was filmed in that place, why they chose that location, how they adapted real spaces to look like others, and so on. The real life of Scotland, its landscape, architecture and culture are also mixed with fiction, which gives the tour a special charm.

It is an intense but well-organised day, designed for Outlander fans to recognise scenes, feel the connection with the landscapes and learn about behind-the-scenes stories, while enjoying nature and architectural heritage.
