Step by Step
After meeting your guide next to the emblematic olive tree in the co-cathedral, you'll set off on the historical route to Praza da Constitución, the heart of the old town. Between arcades and wooden balconies, you will learn how the city went from a medieval fishing village to an industrial canning power. On Monte do Castro - the first Celtic settlement - you'll see the remains of Napoleonic walls and breathtaking panoramic views over the Vigo estuary and the Cíes Islands.
On your way back to the port, you'll pass through the Mercado da Pedra, where fresh oysters are still sold on granite tables, and the Rúa das Ostras, perfect for postcard photos. On the modern promenade, your guide will point out the shipyards and explain the city's close relationship with transoceanic emigration.
The finishing touch is in a cosy stone bar: you'll toast with a Rías Baixas wine or a local beer while tasting a tapa of Galician produce. A delicious end that leaves a taste of the sea and history before returning to the starting point, just a few minutes from the cruise port.
