Step by Step

This full day tour of Bruges on your own from Paris is ideal for those who want to discover a fairytale city in the comfort of an organised tour, but still have the freedom to explore without a strict guided tour. Just show up at the departure point in Paris, hop on the bus and let the team take care of the rest.

The day starts early in the morning, usually around 7:15am, in the Pullman Bercy Hotel area in the east of Paris. There, the host will welcome you, help you board the air-conditioned bus and explain how the tour works: journey time, approximate time of arrival, meeting point in Bruges and time of return. Once en route, all you have to do is relax and enjoy the scenery on the way to Belgium.

Upon arrival in Bruges, you will have about 5 hours of free time to discover the city at your leisure. You can stroll around the Grand Place with its medieval bell tower, approach the town hall and the basilica, visit the Beguinage, cross bridges over the canals or lose yourself in the narrow streets of the old town. The historic centre is compact and easy to explore on foot, so you can see many places without rushing.

If you feel like it, you can spend some time sampling Belgian cuisine: mussels and fries, Flemish carbonade, freshly made waffles and, of course, handmade chocolates in the many chocolate shops in the centre. You will also have the option of taking a boat cruise on the canals (not included), a very pleasant way to see Bruges from a different perspective and enjoy the façades reflected in the water.

At the time indicated by the host, you will meet up with the group again at the agreed point for the bus ride back to Paris, departing at approximately 16:30 and arriving in the Bercy area at around 21:00. Thanks to this organisation, you will be able to enjoy a full day in Bruges without worrying about train schedules, transfers or separate tickets, while still being free to visit the city on your own.

Everything went according to plan: early departure, arrival, free time and return with the group. No surprises. If you are looking for freedom but with minimal structure, it fits perfectly.

Very practical for those who don't want to combine trains or odd timetables. You get on at Bercy, they explain everything and you can enjoy Bruges on your own.

The city is beautiful and the centre is compact, so you can see a lot in 5 hours. If you're a museum person, it might not be enough, but it's a great place to walk around and take photos.

I loved going on my own without a guide. The host gives you the guidelines and then you let yourself go. Tip: bring something warm/waterproof because the weather changes quickly.
