Step by Step

You’ll set off from the centre of Paris in an air-conditioned coach for a journey of approximately an hour and a half to Giverny, a small village in Normandy closely linked to the history of Impressionism.

On arrival, you’ll enter the Claude Monet Foundation to explore the house where the artist lived with his family for over four decades. You’ll be able to wander through his rooms, admire his collection of Japanese prints and visit the studio where he worked.

The tour continues in the gardens, which Monet designed as if they were works of art in their own right. You’ll stroll through the Clos Normand, filled with flowers and plants of different colours, and through the water garden, home to the water-lily pond, weeping willows and the famous Japanese bridge that features in many of his paintings.

When booking, you can choose how you’d like to explore the site. The guided option includes commentary from an official guide during the tour of the gardens. You can also explore the grounds at your own pace with an audio guide available in Spanish and other languages, or opt for the self-guided option, without a guide or audio guide. All options include entry to the house, the studio and the gardens, as well as return transport from Paris.

After spending some time exploring the grounds according to your chosen option, you’ll return to Paris by coach. The total duration of the excursion is approximately 5 hours and 15 minutes.

I recommend going in the morning and finding the best time to visit the gardens beforehand. Quick access in the queues made it easy to get in and seeing the whole place in the sunshine was spectacular.
