Step by Step

Adelaide Zoo offers a very enjoyable way to get up close to wildlife without straying too far from the city centre. Its gardens and footpaths cover around 8 hectares and are home to animals from both Australia and different regions of the world.

Among its inhabitants, you’ll find such striking species as giant pandas – one of the park’s main attractions – as well as giraffes, Komodo dragons, Sumatran tigers and wallabies. The variety of animals ensures a very comprehensive visit that can easily be tailored to each visitor’s pace.

Throughout the day, talks by the keepers are also organised, offering a great opportunity to learn more about the behaviour, diet and characteristics of different species. Another highlight is the Free Flight Bird Show, a display in which various birds fly over the spectator area.

The zoo combines animal enclosures with landscaped areas and peaceful footpaths, making it easy to spend several hours exploring it at a leisurely pace. It’s an experience particularly recommended for families, although it also fits in very well with a day spent discovering Adelaide and its green spaces.

You can show your ticket directly on your mobile phone at the entrance, avoiding any extra paperwork before your visit begins. Once inside, you can plan your visit at your own pace and stop off at the areas and activities that interest you most.

We really enjoyed it, especially the mix of local animals and those from other parts of the world. A peaceful and very enjoyable visit.

Everything went smoothly. You can tell it’s a place designed for a leisurely stroll and to learn a little, not just to look at animals.

The zoo is fine for spending a few hours, although I was expecting something bigger. The best bits for me were the pandas and the bird show.

An easy and entertaining family outing. My daughter was delighted with the birds and we appreciated that it was so close to the city centre.
