Step by Step

Enjoy the best culinary experience on a guided walking tour of south-east Manhattan. You’ll sample the finest traditional dishes and visit interesting spots in the district. The tour includes visits to:Little Italy, Chinatown, Nolita, the Tenement Museum, St Patrick’s Cathedral and much more.

Around 14 travellers will be taking part in this tour, ensuring you have a high-quality experience.

To gain an in-depth understanding of the history of south-east Manhattan, a visit to the African American National Cemetery is a must. It is the final resting place of over 400 African Americans – both free people and, for the most part, slaves – who were buried there during the 17th and 18th centuries.

You’ll be impressed by the architecture of St Patrick’s Cathedral. It is the largest neo-Gothic cathedral in North America.

You’ll stroll through the Lower East Side neighbourhood and witness its evolution. It’s one of the oldest neighbourhoods in NYC, where millions of immigrants settled. You’ll pass very close to the Tenement Museum, which reveals the lives of immigrants in New York from 1870 to 1940.

Chinatown, home to the largest Chinese community in the Western world, awaits to charm you with its unique atmosphere. Its colourful streets, lined with signs in Chinese, make it a world of its own within the Big Apple.

You’ll enjoy some green spaces. You’ll pass through Columbus Park and Sara Delano Roosevelt Park. Thanks to your guide, you’ll discover how both have changed over the years.

You’ll wander through the colourful streets of Little Italy, whilst your guide recounts the history of the first Italian immigrants who sought refuge in this part of Manhattan. You’ll admire modern street art and visit a famous food shop for a delicious tasting.

You’ll also stroll through the streets of Nolita, formerly part of Little Italy, which is brimming with restaurants, bars and art.

I really enjoyed doing a tour that included the history of the neighbourhoods and gave us a chance to taste their food. Our guide was great, she knew a lot of things and shared them with us. I 100% recommend this tour. We did NOT have to eat dinner afterwards!

We wanted to discover a part of New York that we didn't know, and this tour hit the nail on the head. Our guide was wonderful, very energetic and enthusiastic about the areas we went through and the food we tried. The tour route was perfectly planned so that we could sample and discover various neighbourhoods. The food was very tasty, just don't eat before the tour!

This was our favourite tour of the trip. It was well worth it. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and the tour itself was full of information and history. The food was excellent (we are still talking about some of the samples we tried weeks later). It was a great way to see the area, taste good food and give us an idea of where to go next time. Highly recommend this tour, even though it was cold when we did it, it is easy to do the walk and understand the guide perfectly. A great tour.
