Experience Highlights

Experience Valencia at one of its most vibrant times of the year with this guided tour of the Fallas, an experience that allows you to discover first-hand the art, satire, gunpowder and traditions that completely transform the city every March.

Over the course of approximately 3 hours, you’ll explore the city centre accompanied by an official local guide whilst discovering some of the most iconic Fallas and learning how these ephemeral monuments are created, the stories they tell and why they end up being set alight on the night of the cremà.

The tour takes place between 12th and 19th March, with morning and afternoon departures. Once the Fallas have been fully erected, the experience includes entry to three Special Section Fallas. In the early days, whilst they are still being finished off, you’ll admire them from the outside and enjoy some chocolate with churros.

  • Discover the Fallas from the inside, accompanied by an official local guide
  • See some of the city’s most spectacular Fallas
  • Immerse yourself in a festival declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

Step by Step

During the Fallas, Valencia takes on a completely different atmosphere. The streets are filled with music, fireworks, lights, churros stalls and enormous monuments that suddenly appear in squares and at crossroads. This tour is designed to help you understand everything behind this atmosphere and experience the festival with a much deeper understanding of its context.

Accompanied by an official guide, you’ll explore the heart of the city whilst discovering how the fallas are built, just how much work goes into each one, and what their scenes, characters and social commentary mean. Many of them use humour and satire to address politics, society and current affairs, so viewing a falla with someone who can explain its details completely transforms the experience.

One of the tour’s main highlights is getting up close to some of the ‘Special Section’ fallas – the most spectacular and ambitious in the competition. Once they are fully erected, the tour includes entry to three fallas, so you can appreciate their figures, finishes and scale at close quarters.

If you take the tour on 12, 13, 14 or 15 March, the fallas may still be under construction, so you won’t be able to go inside them. On those days, you’ll view them from the outside whilst discovering how the ‘plantà’ (erection) is progressing and, as an alternative, you’ll be treated to chocolate with churros, one of the essential classics of this time of year.

Throughout the tour, you’ll also learn why the Fallas end up being burnt, how the competition works, what role the Fallas artists play, and how a celebration that lasts just a few days is actually the result of a whole year’s work.
